Copying DVD movies to DVD's or CD's requires a few things you will need to do. The first of which is to make sure that you have a software program that will do it. You will need a CD read-writeable drive in your computer. Without it, you will not be able to copy DVD movies with your computer. To copy DVD movies you will need a number of tools that are part of the DVD copy software package. A "ripper" is what allows you to get the information from your DVD to your hard drive. First of all you will need to rip the data from the DVD disks copying DVD movies to CD's. At this point having enough hard drive space is important. A rip of a DVD disc can be anywhere from one to two gigabytes. You cannot make a proper rip of your DVD without sufficient hard drive space to hold it. Some software packages will use this utility and others do not. After you have a copy of the DVD on your hard drive, you need to convert the ripped files to mpeg files. This is a utility that converts the ripped files from the DVD to mpeg video files. After converting to mpeg files you will need to burn them to your CD's. Software packages come with a
burning utility for burning to CD.
The process to copy DVD movies to CD's isn't complicated, but you need hard drive space, one of the DVD burner programs and some time.
